Nu de druk op de Assyriërs in Noord-Oost Syrië weer toeneemt, neemt de Assyrische Federatie NL (AFN) zijn verantwoordelijkheid door de Koerdische agressie op de Assyriërs wereldkundig te maken. De AFN heeft derhalve de Russische ambassade geïnformeerd betreffende de situatie van de Assyriërs in Syrië. Hierbij ging de aandacht uit naar de rol die de Koerden aannemen bij het bezetten van de Assyrische dorpen in Khabour.
Er is onder andere medegedeeld, dat de Syriac Military Council militie de dorpen Tel Jazira en Tel Baz zijn binnengedrongen. Zij werden begeleid door Koerdische officieren van de PKK. Sinds april 2018 zijn er al meer dan honderdvijftig Koerdische vluchtelingen uit Afrin in het Assyrische dorp Tel Nasri ondergebracht. De vrees heerst nu onder de Assyriërs in Khabour, dat er nog velen zullen volgen en dat dit het koerdificeren van nog meer Assyrische gronden zal inleiden. De AFN zal naar aanleiding van het gesprek met de Russische ambassade vervolgstappen ondernemen.
Bovendien heeft de AFN ook al meerdere kamerleden geïnformeerd.

The pressure on the Assyrians in north-east Syria is increasing again. Reason enough for the Assyrian Federation NL (AFN) to take its responsibility by making the Kurdish aggression on the Assyrians known to public. The AFN has therefore informed the Russian embassy regarding the situation of the Assyrians in Syria. The focus was on the role that the Kurds take on occupying the Assyrian villages in Khabour.
It has been reported, among other things, that the Syriac Military Council militia have invaded the villages of Tel Jazira and Tel Baz. They were accompanied by Kurdish officers from the PKK. Since April 2018 more than one hundred and fifty Kurdish refugees from Afrin have been housed in the Assyrian village of Tel Nasri. The fear now reigns among the Assyrians in Khabour, that many more will follow and that this will introduce the Kurdification of even more Assyrian lands and properties. The AFN will take further steps as a result of the discussion with the Russian embassy.
In addition, the AFN has already informed several Dutch members of parliament.
